Acute Neurological Rehabilitation
The Wellington Acute Neurological Rehabilitation Unit is a major component of The Wellington Hospital and has an international reputation for the excellence of its work. It has recently been awarded 3 years accreditation by CARF, an internationally recognised independent body that evaluates standards in rehabilitation around the world.
The 46-bed unit, based in the hospitals north building, covers three floors and is run by a multi-disciplinary team of experienced consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists and dieticians.
Every room is equipped with facilities to make each patient’s stay as comfortable and as convenient as possible, with plenty of space for visiting family members and friends.
The focus of the unit is to provide a team approach to the rehabilitation of people who have challenging neurological conditions.
Facilities including three gyms and a hydrotherapy pool provide the highest quality care to maximise patients' functional abilities, help them return to life at home, and assist with psychological and emotional support in adapting to disability.
The unit is recognised as the independent sector’s premier centre for the care of patients with neurological conditions including head injuries, spinal cord injuries and strokes, providing comprehensive patient-centred rehabilitation.
