Registration & Accreditation

The Wellington Hospital is regulated by the Healthcare Commission in accordance with the Care Standards Act 2000 and inspected regularly against National Minimum Standards (Department of Health 2002). The Healthcare Commission is responsible for monitoring the performance of all NHS and independent healthcare organisations across England and Wales. We are accredited by the Health Quality Service (HQS) which is an external accreditation body. HQS enables healthcare organisations to critically examine themselves against a nationally recognised framework of organizational standards.

The Wellington Hospital is also a BUPA approved colorectal cancer centre.

Consultants using The Wellington Hospital

All consultants working at the Wellington Hospital have to apply for Practicing Privileges. In order to have practicing privileges the consultant has to meet the following criteria:

  • GMC certificate
  • GMC specialist registration
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • CRB clearance
  • Have an annual appraisal
  • Interview with CEO
  • Approval by Medical Advisory Committee of The Wellington Hospital
