Current Standards and Awards

In February 2017 The Wellington Hospital achieved a 'Good' rating by national regulators the Care Quality Commission. The 'Good' CQC rating is shared across the hospital and The Platinum Medical Diagnostics and Outpatients Centre, Lodge Road.

We are accredited by CHKS who are an external accreditation body. CHKS enables healthcare organisations to critically examine themselves against a nationally recognised framework of organisational standards. More information is available on their website 


The Wellington Hospital Endoscopy Centre was awarded JAG accreditation in 2015 and are re-assessed on an annual basis.


The Acute Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at The Wellington Hospital was awarded Patient Centre of the Year in 2015 and maintains CARF accreditation . It was first accredited in 2011 and re-accredited in 2014 for 3 years. 

The Wellington Hospital is also a Bupa approved Colorectal Cancer Centre and Gynaecological Cancer Centre and Breast Cancer Care Unit.

Consultants using The Wellington Hospital, The Platinum Medical Centre or The Wellington Diagnostics & Outpatients Centre

All consultants working at The Wellington Hospital have to apply for Practicing Privileges. In order to have practicing privileges the consultant has to meet the following criteria:

  • GMC certificate
  • GMC specialist registration
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • CRB clearance
  • Be annually appraised
  • Interviewed by the CEO
  • Be approved by the Medical Advisory Committee of The Wellington Hospital
