Biography
Dr Laurence Lovat is a consultant gastroenterologist at University College London Hospitals and is a Reader in Gastroenterology and Laser Medicine at UCL.

Dr Lovat trained as an undergraduate at UCL and received his PhD from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at Imperial College. He has set up an internationally renowned research group which researches into complications of indigestion. The group has developed novel ways for detecting Barretts oesophagus and for prevention and treatment of oesophageal cancer. Dr Lovats team is at the forefront of technological advances in managing these disorders and he introduced both BRAVO pH monitoring and HALO radiofrequency ablation to the UK. He lectures regularly both in the UK and internationally.
