Guy was educated at Marlborough College and Birmingham University Medical School . After qualification and a year as an Anatomy Lecturer he did his postgraduate surgical training at St James Leeds and in the West Midlands working for Simon Kay, Mike Wallace and John Black amongst others.

After UK training , with the benefit of 3 Fellowships and the BAUS Ethicon prize, he spent a year in Brisbane Australia learning new techniques in endoscopic and cancer surgery. On return he gained the European Fellowship.

Appointed a Consultant Urologist aged 34 he has a patient-focused practice in General Urology with a special interest in the upper urinary tract for stones, cancer and obstruction using both open and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

After initial training in London and Paris he introduced kidney robotic procedures using the Da Vinci Si into his NHS Trust in February 2010 and has since performed robotic procedures regularly since then (partial and total nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy and pyeloplasty).

He has been a mentor to other Urologists for laparoscopy, teaches endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques on behalf of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and is an advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons.

He has written book chapters and papers on Urology, lectured widely and is a reviewer for Urology Journals and the Departmental Lead for Clinical Governance.

In his spare time he tries to combine his hobbies (following rugby & cricket, playing golf and with boats ) with time spent with his young twin daughters and son.
