Mr Jonathan Miles is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon on the General Medical Council Specialist Register. His NHS practise is at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London. His orthopaedic training was in London and the South East of England and was completed by two years of hip and knee fellowships and visits to numerous centres in Europe and the United States. His specialist interest is in surgery of the adult hip and knee.

Mr Miles hip practise includes the use of resurfacing and ceramic bearings for patients with high mobility demands. He is also particularly interested in revision surgery, in multiply operated hips with massive bone loss and hips with infected components. His knee practise includes primary and revision knee replacement, including partial knee replacements. He is keen to use less invasive techniques, where possible, including arthroscopic surgery and autologous cartilage transplant surgery in complex sports injuries.

Mr Miles is heavily involved in research and training, having been lead author of one textbook and written chapters for many more. He organises courses on hip and knee surgery in London and has lectured on numerous courses throughout the world. He has published and presented on a wide variety of topics allied to hip and knee surgery. The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is one of the most important centres of orthopaedic training in the country and he is actively involved in the teaching programme as well as being a clinical supervisor to trainees and fellows. He continues to research new techniques in hip and knee surgery as well as treatments for infected joint replacements.
