The Wellington Hospital Knee Unit opening in Canary - HCA at Docklands

After reaching an important milestone last year, with 25 years in the service, The Wellington Hospital Knee Unit is now taking steps to expand and help make their skills more accessible to patients across London.

The first stage of their expansion has been to become a new resident unit at HCA’s Docklands facility in Canary Wharf.  HCA at Docklands is supported by London Bridge Hospital and Blossoms Healthcare. They provide one centre for specialist consultations in orthopaedics and sports medicine, the facility includes onsite MRI, X-Ray and Ultrasound. There is also direct access to private GPs who can assess you, and refer you on for physiotherapy, a scan or a specialist consultation as required.

The Knee Unit have also extended their reach in the North West London area by offering regular clinics at The Wellington Diagnostics and Outpatients Centre in Golders Green. This satellite centre has onsite diagnostic and treatment rooms and each consultant using the centre, uses the main Wellington Hospital should patients require further surgical treatment.

Development

As well as expanding further into London, the unit’s primary clinic at The Wellington Hospital is also undergoing complete refurbishment. The new unit will receive a complete redesign, after valuable input from the consultants and clinical teams.

Mr Howard Ware, Director of the Knee Unit said

‘It’s very exciting times for our whole unit, we’ve all taken an active role in deciding how we want to expand and work together with HCA Healthcare UK. Starting with its founding members, Paul Aichroth, Clare Marx, George Dowd and David Hunt the Knee Unit has an incredible history and we want to continue playing a major role on the future of managing knee problems and injuries. ‘

The Knee Unit’s new look clinic will open to patients in early in 2017.
