Health screening is a great way to keep your overall general health in check – at any age - and can be beneficial in picking up early or latent conditions. This is particularly important in those with a strong family history of common conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer and autoimmune conditions (e.g thyroid/coeliacs).

It is also useful as a benchmark and indicator of your current general health, giving you the chance to map out personal health goals.

Our GP service offers patients a range of tests and checks, including:

  • ECG
  • Urine and stool tests
  • Weight control
  • Cholesterol
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Audiology (hearing) tests
  • Diabetes screening
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • INR testing
  • Thyroid function tests
  • Anaemia profile
  • Allergy testing
  • Hormone profile
  • Cancer markers
  • Stress counselling

Tailored health screening packages

Although named a ‘general’ health screening, these tests are very much tailored to the individual and certain investigations may be more appropriate than others, depending on your age, sex, family history and symptoms (if any). There are different screening packages available, from basic to help you assess your general health, to more specific testing including audiology, Vitamin D and allergies. Our GPs can tailor the screening to meet an individual's requirements.

As you would expect, our health screens provide a non-judgemental, discrete environment where you should feel free to discuss any issues.

Pick the package for you

From family planning to cervical smears, breast checks to menopause advice, it is highly beneficial for women to have access to a comprehensive service - at every age. We regularly advise on diet and healthy lifestyle and offer sexual health screens, too.

We also arrange fertility tests and hormonal analysis, and our team can test for markers of many cancers, including ovarian and breast; particularly if a patient has family history of these diseases.

Well woman tests can include:

  • Breast examination
  • Cervical smear
  • Blood tests for cholesterol, anaemia and thyroid function
  • Urine screening for infection, diabetes and kidney problems
  • Advice on premenstrual syndrome, period problems, polycystic ovaries and contraception choices; urinary problems, incontinence or prolapse
  • Advice on diet and lifestyle
  • Advice on cancer screening-depending on your age and personal risk profile
  • Bone scans
  • Tests for HPV
  • Sexual health screen/advice
  • Pelvic scan
  • Fertility tests
  • Hormonal analysis

Over the age of 40 and certainly from 50 onwards, it can be useful to have a general male health screen, to identify areas of health which can be improved or diseases which can be caught early and treated. This is usually assessed through a combination of a detailed questioning, examination and investigations; particularly, prostatic disease, sexual performance and testosterone levels.

We also offer general health screening, which test for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

As men tend to visit their doctors much less frequently than women, it can be a good point of contact and opportunity to deal with other medical issues which have been shelved or overlooked.

Well man test can include:

  • Blood tests for cholesterol, thyroid, prostate and testosterone
  • Urine screening for infection, diabetes and kidney problems
  • Cardiovascular check by assessing pulse, blood pressure and heart tracings (ECG)
  • Advice on stress management and key areas for improvement in lifestyle
  • Advice on cancer screening-depending on your age and personal risk profile
  • Sexual health screening/advice
  • Detailed scans to understand the risks of heart disease, stroke, abdominal, prostatic or testicular problems

We have a fast, discrete and confidential service to provide comprehensive sexual health screens covering all of the main sexually transmitted diseases. Our packages can be tailored to the individual’s symptoms, but several sexually transmitted diseases may not show any symptoms at all.

Tests can be done simply through a urine or blood test with fast access to results and treatments.
